Real messages come from short sender names like these, not from an ordinary 10-digit mobile number. This list may be incomplete; check Google Pay's own website.

Warning signs

Asks for OTP, PIN, CVV or password — Google Pay never asks for these.
Threatens account block, KYC expiry or a fine "today".
Sends a link or an .apk app file to install.
Offers reward points, a refund or a prize you didn't expect.
