Stickers over genuine QR codes, or QR codes in emails and parking notices, lead to fake payment or login pages.

Warning signs

• QR sticker pasted over another
• QR opens a login page, not a payment
• QR received in an unexpected email

If you're targeted

1. Don't pay, don't share OTPs or PINs, and don't install any app they suggest.
2. If money was sent, call your bank and then 1930 within the first hour — quick reporting gives the best chance of freezing the money.
3. File a complaint at cybercrime.gov.in and keep screenshots and payment details as evidence.
