Marketplace 'army officer' buyer/seller scam in India

How this scam works

On OLX, Quikr or Facebook a buyer/seller claims to be an army or CRPF officer being transferred, and asks for advance payment or sends a QR 'to pay you'.

• Claims armed-forces posting or transfer
• Price far below market
• Insists on QR or advance transfer

If you're targeted

1. Don't pay, don't share OTPs or PINs, and don't install any app they suggest.
2. If money was sent, call your bank and then 1930 within the first hour — quick reporting gives the best chance of freezing the money.
3. File a complaint at cybercrime.gov.in and keep screenshots and payment details as evidence.
