How this scam works

You're told you won a KBC, Jio or lucky-draw prize and must pay tax or processing fees first to receive it.

• Prize for a contest you never entered
• Pay a fee to receive winnings
• WhatsApp photo of a 'cheque'

If you're targeted

1. Don't pay, don't share OTPs or PINs, and don't install any app they suggest.
2. If money was sent, call your bank and then 1930 within the first hour — quick reporting gives the best chance of freezing the money.
3. File a complaint at cybercrime.gov.in and keep screenshots and payment details as evidence.
